Like a proud papa I watched our softball team grow into a real team on Monday night. We won our first game and have been having a ton of trouble since then. One night it's scoring, the next defense, the next we just get pounded, and we never catch any breaks. Well, Monday night we finally turned the thing around.
It was a back and forth game with many a wind blown ball and bad hops. After keeping the game close, we had a couple bad breaks and they ended up going up 15-10 going into the last inning. The normal PR Black team would have easily folded, but not now. The first two hitters got out on a couple unlucky outs. So we are down to our last out with our #3 hitter, Trent, up. He is patient and gets a nice single. I'm next and follow up with another single. Larry follows suit with a nice single and scores Trent. Timothy gets on and up next is Matt. He walks up to the plate, I yell all we need is a single! He shrugs and promptly hits a grand slam...tie ball game!! We threaten to score one more time in the last inning but fail. On to extra innings! Once again get a couple bad breaks and they end up putting one more on the board. 16-15 they lead, but luckily Adam, our catcher throws a guy out stealing (this is rare in softball). So we are in for the final AB. In extra innings you only get one pitch, so if you foul, you are out, or its a ball or a strike. We were down to our last out again and Travis, who had been creaming the ball all night, but right at them, hits a small pop up and it's dropped and we score one...tie again! Up comes Trent, he takes a ball and walks to load the bases. Here I come...first pitch I swing hit a line drive right down the left field line and it lands 3 feet fair and we win!! It was a great win and it was fun watching Misty and the other wives go crazy!
Now you may not care all that much about our softball team, but it's a cool story to tell. The kind you make movies out of....right?? ha.
We again have Tornadoes here in the metroplex...very odd. This is the first time since we've been down here that I'm reminded of the good ol' Panhandle spring thunderbusters!

That was SUCH a fun game. When Matt tied the game Stefanie said "I'm getting a slurpee tonight." Then Jana leaned in and said "No. We're all getting lucky tonight!" It was so funny. I didn't expect her to say that.
